Gerhard Mack, Founder and MD
Gerhard has started his career in 1992 after his telecom engineering degree. After 9 years in Alcatel (now Nokia) with roles in R&D, Product Management and Program Management, he got appointed General Manager of the Optical Networks Division.
2006 he moved on to Kabel Deutschland, Europe’s biggest Cable Network Operator. With his team, he managed the ramp-up of the ISP business from 0 before he moved into operations to build millions of giga-speed cable customer connections on DOCSIS3.1.
By the time Vodafone acquired KDG in 2014, he had been appointed COO of KDG. Gerhard managed the integration of KDG’s customer operations, IT and Technology into Vodafone before he got appointed Chief Commercial Operations Officer of Vodafone Deutschland in 2016.
2018 he became CTO of Vodafone Deutschland. He launched the first 5G network in Germany, the first 5G SA network in Europe, upgraded 24m HH to gigaspeed Internet, integrated the Unitymedia team/network and started and was responsible for the biggest business and IT agile transformation program in the industry.
In 2019/20 he worked on the carve-out of Vodafone Germany’s tower business to what became Vantage Towers and acted as its first MD.
In his last 12 months in Vodafone, Gerhard oversaw the european verticalisation of all Technology and IT teams into a OneTech organisation, an industry first realizing significant benefits for the company.
2023 he left Vodafone to become independant advisor, chairman and board member.
Currently, he serves as Executive Chairman of metrofibre and ruhrfibre Essen and as board member of Netzkontor and vitroconnect
