About Me
Gerhard Mack, Founder and MD
Gerhard began his career in 1992 after earning a degree in telecommunications engineering. He spent nine years at Alcatel (now Nokia) in R&D, Product Management, and Program Management, ultimately being appointed General Manager of the Optical Networks Division.
In 2006, he joined Kabel Deutschland, Europe’s largest cable network operator. He led the ramp-up of the ISP business from zero before moving into operations to build millions of gigabit-speed cable connections on DOCSIS 3.1. In 2014, he had been appointed COO and MD of the MDAX-listed Kabel Deutschland Holding AG. After being aquired by Vodafone, he managed the integration of KDG’s customer operations, IT, and technology into Vodafone. In 2016, he became MD and Chief Commercial Operations Officer of Vodafone Deutschland.
In 2018, Gerhard was appointed MD and CTO of Vodafone Deutschland. He launched Germany’s first 5G network and Europe’s first 5G Standalone network, upgraded 24 million households to gigabit-speed internet, integrated the Liberty Global’s german cable asset Unitymedia, and initiated the largest business and IT agile transformation program in the industry.
In 2019/2020, he oversaw the carve-out of Vodafone Germany’s tower business, which became Vantage Towers, and served as its first Managing Director.
During his final year at Vodafone, Gerhard led the European verticalization of all Technology and IT teams into a OneTech organization—an industry first that delivered significant benefits.
In 2023, he left Vodafone to become an independent advisor, chairman, and board member. He currently serves as Executive Chairman of metrofibre and ruhrfibre Essen and as a board member of vitroconnect.
